Let’s talk about Red Dye

According to Time Magazine, the Food and Drug Administration recently rescinded its provisional approval of Red No. 2 (Red Dye), because its safety could not be established. The FDA's most recent tests showed a significant increase in cancer among aged female rats that had been fed large doses of the dye. The decision to restrict the use of this dye in our foods has taken at least 14 years to be reached.  Are you aware of any health issues related to red dye consumption?  Do you think there is a real concern with the use of Red Dye?  Do you think that consumers should take a more active role in protecting themselves from food and drugs that might be unsafe, instead of waiting on the Federal Government to step in?
